DISCIPLESHIP RESOURCES
Curious where to start with discipleship? Check out these resources to help you take your first steps and provide an overview, a definition, and a biblical study of what it means to be a disciple and what Jesus meant when he sent us to make disciples.
DISCIPLESHIP CHECKLIST
Work through this checklist before choosing content for discipleship
DISCIPLESHIP CONTENT
WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
CHOOSING THE RIGHT DISCIPLESHIP CONTENT
STEP 1
After looking over the discipleship survey with a disciple it can be helpful to highlight all areas they self assess as needing improvement to address in the future. If there are any questions on the first page they assess as needing growth readdress those first (even briefly) as you just went through them in Foundations.
STEP 2
Next, it would be good to determine how they are doing at being a "self-feeder" in their relationship with God (discipleship survey questions on prayer and Bible study). If they aren't in the best place, choosing content from the "Scripture" section could be helpful.
STEP 3
If they seem to be in a good place with Jesus, looking at how they are doing in their relationship and ministry to others could be helpful (discipleship survey questions on telling others about Christ). With half of discipleship being evangelism and ministry development, getting training and equipping for ministering to others will be helpful. (see: CoJourners, God Space, Sent)
STEP 4
After you have walked through the Foundations and confirmed they are established well in them, it is time to move to building a solid biblical framework (see: Framework content section). The thing Jesus talked about more than anything was "the kingdom". In doing so He built a framework for His disciples to think through as they encounter different circumstances of life. How would someone who is living as a citizen of His kingdom live? Scripture also gives us frameworks around things like the gospel (see: Gospel-centered Life & Gospel Fluency) and being "with" God (see: "With" book). When a solid biblical framework is established for a disciple then you are ready to build each "room" of their spiritual house as you dive into more specific content areas of need.
STEP 5
At this point, feel free to reference their self assessment and offer options for resources on the following lists or with other resources you have found helpful in biblically addressing these areas.

THE COMPASS
The Compass is a tool designed to help staff and student disciplers guide other students through the process of becoming mature disciples.
The Compass is organized under three main headings: “Walk,” “Communicate” and “Multiply.” These correspond with our understanding that mature disciples are those who walk, communicate and multiply their faith.

COLLABORATIVE DISCIPLESHIP
What if discipleship could be a community of believers who helped each other grow in their faith and fruitfulness? What if discipleship lessons were so transferable anyone could teach them with confidence? What if new disciples were quickly able to disciple others? A collaborative approach to discipleship can make this a reality.

BEATITUDES
RIGHT NOW MEDIA (VIDEOS)
What does it mean to be blessed? And, more importantly, how do we become someone who is blessed? The kind of life God is calling us to may not look the way we imagined, but it will be better than we could have hoped.
In this eight-session series, pastor Matt Chandler takes us through the Beatitudes and shows us what it means to live in the kingdom of God. Through Jesus’s teaching, learn what the blessed life really looks like.
JONAH
RIGHT NOW MEDIA (VIDEOS)
Jonah was anything but a good role model. He actively avoided God's calling and, instead of showing mercy to his enemies, kept God's grace to himself. It is easy to say Jonah was a bad prophet, but he isn't that different from us.
Far more than a thrilling Sunday school adventure, Jonah's brief story underscores the depths of God's compassion, not only in redeeming the lost but those he has called to participate in his work.
